DS Ag Booster's Fall Classic Jackpot Show
Posted By: Jordan Blount   11/10/2018
For those interested in attending the DS Fall Classic Jackpot Show, here is a link to the online registration form along with dates/times. Please get registered as soon as possible - below is a link to the online website and online form:

http://www.dsagboosters.org/fall-classic

The sheep and goats will show on Saturday and the swine and cattle show on Sunday.  For those showing sheep/goats/swine - please email Mr. Blount and verify that you are going.  If you need a trailer ride, please include that in the email.  Sheep and goats will head to the show barn at 6:30 AM on Saturday morning. Plan on coming to the barn early and getting your animal (loaded) beforehand.  Each person using the trailer will need to bring 1 bag of shavings for the trailer as we will be showing out of the trailer. At the conclusion of the sheep/goat show, we will head back to the ag barn and load up pigs.  For pigs, please get 1 bag of pelleted shavings and 1 bag of regular shavings for the pen at the show barn.  We will get the pens set up Saturday after the show (and before we load pigs to go to the showgrounds).  For pig showers, please come check in at the show barn with your shavings around 6:00 PM on Saturday - we will need to wait until the sheep and goats are out before setting up so it will depend on the that for timing.

If you have any questions, please email Mr. Blount those.

UPCOMING COMMUNITY SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES THROUGH DS AG BOOSTERS AT THE DS RANCH PARK!!!
Posted By: Jordan Blount   11/9/2018
Please see the attached document for times slots available to sign up for.  Parents and students are encouraged to get involved and community service hours are given!!! Additionally, anyone who volunteers will receive a free t-shirt and is going into a drawing for prizes (YETI cups, gift certificates to local businesses, etc.) - the more hours you work, the more chances you have to win! Pizza will be provided at  two of the dates as well.

There is no training or experience required to help and you do not have to be in ag class or an FFA member to help (so bring your siblings/friends if they want to get hours too!)

Last, but not least, for every 3 hours you work - Mr. Blount will give you a "Free Formative 100 Pass".  If you have some missing work or did poorly on an assignment, I will trade you labor for the grade.

How do you sign up or do you have questions? Please contact Cindy Hanson of the Ag Booster's Club at (512)585-6210 (call or text) or email dsfallclassic@gmail.com.

Rodeo Austin Junior Leaders Info
Posted By: Jordan Blount   9/11/2018

FROM TRICIA SULLIVAN OF THE TEXAS FFA PROGRAM:

As many of you may know, I thrive on volunteering my time for the youth of Texas in conjunction with my position here at the Texas FFA.  This year marks my 9th year to volunteer with Rodeo Austin and this year I have been given the awesome opportunity to serve as the Rodeo Austin Junior Leader Chair!  I am very excited to extend FFA leadership skills and opportunities to students right here in central Texas.

I wanted to send out a quick notification that the RA Junior Leader applications are due October 15th.  This is a great opportunity for students to get involved in the community outside of their normal FFA time, and DOES count as community service time (this can be included on award and scholarship apps for ‘Other FFA Activities’ at the state level).  The online application can be found here: https://rodeoaustin.com/static/media/uploads/files/2019_junior_leader_application.pdf

The program is NOT a time intensive program like some may think.  We are flexible to work with the student’s schedule during Rodeo Austin and school, with only a minimum of 15 hours required to participate as notated below.  Here are the program requirements:

·  Volunteer for fifteen (15) hours during the Fair & Rodeo (March 16-30, 2019)

·  Attend Junior Leader Orientation (January 2019 - Date TBD)

·  Dues for the Program are $20 which includes a season parking pass, season fairgrounds pass, committee badge and Two Junior Leader shirts
